A PRRA is a final opportunity for individuals facing removal from Canada to show that they would face persecution, torture, or risk to life if returned to their home country. It’s an important safeguard in Canada’s immigration system.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have received a removal order from Canada

  • Ineligible if previously denied PRRA within the past 12 months (exceptions apply)

  • Must demonstrate new or changed circumstances that pose serious risk

  • Must not be inadmissible for serious criminality or national security threats

Required Documents

  • PRRA application form

  • Detailed written submissions with supporting evidence

  • Country condition reports

  • Proof of personal risk (affidavits, medical/legal documents)

  • Any new evidence not considered during initial refugee claim
