Super Visa (for Parents & Grandparents – Temporary Residence)

The Super Visa is a temporary multiple-entry visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with a validity of up to 10 years. It is a great alternative when the Parent Sponsorship Program is not available.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must:

  • Be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

  • Undergo an immigration medical exam

  • Have valid medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company

  • Provide a written promise of financial support from the child/grandchild

  • Meet Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) thresholds based on family size

  • Intend to stay temporarily and leave Canada at the end of the authorized period

Required Documents

  • Letter of invitation from the child or grandchild in Canada

  • Proof of relationship (birth certificate, etc.)

  • Proof of child/grandchild’s Canadian citizenship or PR

  • Medical insurance from a Canadian provider (minimum 1 year coverage of CAD $100,000)

  • Proof of financial support (meeting LICO)

  • Immigration forms and passport

  • Police clearance and medical exam results
